On Tuesday, September 9th,  CMEIS was honored to celebrate Dr. Michael O’Sullivan’s achievement as a recipient of the Carolina’s Outstanding Contribution to Middle East and Islamic Studies Book Award!

We began the day with a small reading group, where graduate students had the opportunity to discuss selections from Dr. O’Sullivan’s 2023 publication ‘No Birds of Passage.’ The discussion and following lecture proved that the text is a fascinating dive into the economic and religious history of South Asia, and we are lucky to count Dr. O’Sullivan among our faculty here at UNC.
