Dr. Amal Eqeiq, Chair of Arabic Studies and Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at Williams College, joined us on March 20th to deliver a lecture on South-South solidarity. Dr. Eqeiq considered art movements – particularly muralists and hip hop artists – in Chiapas and Palestine. The example of an Ana Tijou song featuring Shadia Mansour, “Somos Sur,” resonated with one listener as it highlighted the common conditions of anti-colonial struggle across the Global South.

Special thanks to Dr. Eqeiq for delivering such a thought-provoking lecture, and to the students, faculty, and staff who attended the event!
