As part of the Ali and Lila Paydarfar Lectureship, Dr. Firoozeh Kashani-Sabet, University of Pennsylvania Walter H. Annenberg Professor of History and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill alumna, gave a lecture titled “Heroes to Hostages: How America and Iran Ended up on Opposite Sides”. 60 attendees joined to listen to Dr. Kashani-Sabet speak about her book, which explores America and Iran ties from 1800-1988. In opening the event, CMEIS Director, Dr. Claudia Yaghoobi also announced news of the Center’s Career Pathways Initiatives (https://mideast.unc.edu/news/career/). The discussion and Q&A session was led by Dr. Cemil Aydin and followed by beautiful Iranian traditional music performed by Sayeh Ensemble and food from Asali Desserts & Cafe.
