The Center for the Middle East and Islamic Studies 20th year anniversary: Comedy and Hip-Hop Show

Students, faculty, and members of the community are all invited to join us for an evening of entertainment featuring Tehran Ghasri, a Black-Persian stand-up comedian, followed by a performance by Syrian-American hip-hop artist Omar Offendum and accompanied by Palestinian-American musician Ronnie Malley and NC local DJ Rang.

  • Tehran Ghasri is a comedian, actor, host, television and radio personality, and philosopher with a law degree. Self-described as part Black, part Persian and part amazing, Tehran has been compared to a mix of Dave Chappelle and Stephen Colbert meets Maz Johnson.
  • Omar Offendum is a Syrian-American Rapper/Poet. While touring the world to perform his ground-breaking music, he has helped raise thousands of dollars for various humanitarian relief organizations.
  • Ronnie Malley is a musician, actor, producer, educator, and executive director of Intercultural Music Production in Chicago. Ronnie’s goal is to help people learn about cultures through music and the arts to foster an understanding of global citizenship.

Parking is available at the Cobb parking lot, and at the Bell Tower parking lot after 5pm for minimal costs.
