Dr. Hacks is Professor of Spanish in the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Oregon, where he joined the faculty in 2003. In the same year he received his Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from UC Berkeley. His research focuses on the literary footprint of the confluence of Christianity, Judaism and Islam in Medieval Spain, and on Sephardic culture in the Mediterranean. He teaches courses in Medieval Iberian literature, Sephardic studies, Aljamiado literature, and other associated topics.
