University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, the  Department of Politics, invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Middle East Politics.

Candidates must demonstrate excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates with strong potential to conduct methodologically rigorous research on substantively important themes related to the comparative or international politics of the Middle East. The candidate may teach courses on Middle East politics, as well as more general thematic courses, at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The appointment begins August 25, 2012. For appointment at the Assistant Professor level, applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field by the time of appointment; for appointment at the Associate Professor level, applicants must have a PhD and demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates with ABD  status may be considered for the position, with the title of Acting Assistant Professor.
