This temporary (3 or 6 month) post is available from 1 October 2020 until 31 March 2021. The post holder is required to carry out research, and do some teaching in Islamic Studies (broadly conceived) and participate fully in the activities of the Centre for the Study of Islam, a research centre within the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies.

Summary of the role/position
The College wishes to appoint up to three visiting Al-Qasimi Professors in Islamic Studies each with a fixed term of 3 or 6 months. The terms of the visiting professorship are:
1st October 2020 to 31st December 2020
1st January 2021 to 31st March 2021.
Those applying for 1st October 2020 to 31st December 2020 are also eligible to apply to continue the post until 31st March 2021, and should state this in their application letter.
The Visiting Professor will have an established international reputation in the field of Islamic Studies, a defined programme of research for their time as a member of the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, and will contribute to the activities of the Centre for the Study of Islam within the Institute.
The starting salary will be from on the University’s Professorial Scales, depending on qualifications and experience. A housing allowance will also be paid.
