The Department of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in sociocultural anthropology specializing in theoretical and/or ethnographic approaches to the study of race and racialization and/or queer theory. Regional focus is open, though the department has identified a strong interest in scholars working in Asia, the Middle East and/or Oceania.

The Department has a long tradition of community engagement and collaboration with the people with whom we conduct research and preference will be given to scholars whose record reflects a similar commitment. We are actively seeking to recruit from a diverse pool of applicants. We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous scholars and from minority groups underrepresented in post-secondary institutions in North America. The start date for the position would be July 1, 2021. While a Ph.D. is preferred, applicants who will have successfully defended the Ph.D. dissertation by the position start date will be considered.
