The Department of Sociology at the United Arab Emirates invites applications for three faculty positions:
1-One faculty position in cultural anthropology with strong background and research profile in folklore studies). 2-One faculty positions in general sociology with a strong background in sociology of the family.
3-One faculty member specialized in sociology of social and public policy.

This appointment will commence in September 2014.

The successful applicant will hold an earned Ph.D. in the discipline from an accredited university and will be appointed to rank based on experience and scholarly record. As the language of instruction and operation is English, the applicant must have native or near native capacity to teach and write in English. The university’s expectations for faculty include effective teaching, productive scholarship, and appropriate forms of service. The initial appointment will be for a four-year period with the first two years probationary. Faculty members are expected to teach at all levels in the program, to share in general education teaching, and to participate, as appropriate, in Masters and PhD programs. The standard teaching load is 12 hours per semester, modified in varying degrees by course remissions arising from funded research and consultative activities and administrative roles. All faculty members are expected to have an ongoing research agenda and to be engaged in the publication of works that have been subject to external peer review and appear in internationally recognized and cited journals or other volumes.
