Trinity University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Islam, beginning August 2014, at the rank of assistant professor. The candidate must demonstrate strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a small liberal arts institution. Expertise may include cultural studies of Islam, contemporary Islam, the interaction of Islam with other religious traditions, or the history of Islam. Courses to include the Islamic Tradition, the Qur’an and its reception, and topics in historical and/or contemporary Islam. Other course assignments may vary with background of instructor but must complement the curriculum. Three undergraduate classes per semester. Participation in the First-Year Seminar program desired. Demonstrated teaching abilities and scholarly research preferred. PhD must be completed by time of appointment. Salary is competitive.
