Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1948, Stonehill is a private Catholic college located just 22-miles from downtown Boston on a beautiful 384-acre campus in Easton, Massachusetts. With a student to faculty ratio of 13:1, the College engages its 2,500+ students in 80+ rigorous academic programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and pre-professional fields.

The History Department seeks applicants for a tenured track Assistant Professor of Islamic History/World History position to begin in August 2012. The area of specialty is open, but the candidate must be able to teach the history of the broader Islamic World as well as World History survey courses, upper division courses in candidate’s area of specialty and on transnational global themes. Annual teaching load is 3-3 and strong preference will be given to candidates who have graduate training in World History and/or teaching World History.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in hand at the time of appointment. The position includes generous faculty development funds for the support of research and professional travel.
