The Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations at Seoul National University invites applications for a professorship in modern Middle Eastern studies (open rank). Candidates are expected to have expertise in modern history of the Middle East, contemporary Islam and/or politics. Those who combine strong research records and excellent command of relevant languages will be preferred.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach up to 9 hours a week in English, covering a wide range of courses on contemporary Islam, modern history, thought and culture of the Middle East at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He/she will preferably start at Seoul National University on March 1, 2015. The salary will be commensurate with the candidates previous career and achievement. Only those who already have PhD at the time of submission of application will be considered.
