Spring 2019 Visiting Faculty Position (late January-end of April 2019)

Based at the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) at Sciences Po for Spring 2019 semester, this position is open to both professors and practitioners, specialists of the Middle East and North Africa. Individuals of all nationalities may apply. Applicants must be full time faculty members of professorial rank. Candidates on a sabbatical year, or on leave will be preferred.

Applications from all social sciences and humanities are welcome, with a preference for experts on human development policies, political economy or urbanism in the Middle East. During the Spring 2019 academic break, the Visiting Faculty will spend one week in Kuwait to deliver a public lecture.

Scientific Advisor to the Kuwait Chair (September 2019-June 2021)

The Scientific Advisor to the Kuwait Chair will support the development of original research and teaching on the Middle East and North Africa for a two-year period. This position is also open to individuals of all nationalities, and applicants must be full-time faculty members of professorial rank at their home institution. Applications from economics and or the social sciences are welcome, focusing on political economy issues, human development policies, urban policies, environmental issues, comparative study of legislative cycles in the region or health issues.

The Kuwait Chair will have access to 100,000 euros in research funds over the two year period, and teach one course each semester at the Paris School of International Affairs. The Scientific Advisor will also contribute to a series of annual events and meetings in Kuwait, committing to a minimum of two-one week trips yearly.
