Teaching responsibilities include regional survey and upper-division courses in areas of interest. Participation in the teaching of the department methods or thesis course is welcome. Standard teaching load is three courses per semester.

Research specialization in African or Middle Eastern History (all periods considered, excluding ancient). Candidates whose teaching explores encounters between Africa or the Middle East and Europe are particularly encouraged to apply. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education. The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. (ABD considered).

In addition to a representative writing sample from your research, please attach one or two sample syllabi for courses taught or proposed.
