The Pennsylvania State University, the Department of Comparative Literature, seeks candidates for a tenure track Assistant Professor appointment to contribute to two aspects of our programming: Arabic literatures and cultures and African literatures and cultures as a whole. Preferred start date is August 2012. Participate in our undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA, PhD) programs in Comparative Literature and our undergraduate minor in Arabic. PhD in Comparative Literature or a related field in hand by start of appointment, native or near-native fluency in Arabic, evidence of research productivity or promise, and relevant teaching experience, with the ability to teach broad courses on African literature and courses focused on Arabic topics.
