The Pennsylvania State University, the Department of Comparative Literature, seeks candidates for a tenure track Assistant Professor appointment to contribute to two aspects of our programming: Arabic literatures and cultures and African literatures and cultures as a whole. Preferred start date is August 2012. Participate in our undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA, PhD) programs in Comparative Literature and our undergraduate minor in Arabic. PhD in Comparative Literature or a related field in hand by start of appointment, native or near-native fluency in Arabic, evidence of research productivity or promise, and relevant teaching experience, with the ability to teach broad courses on African literature and courses focused on Arabic topics. Areas of research specialization are open, may include film and new media.
