Arts and Science is seeking a dynamic Associate Director to lead the Hagop Kavorkian Center. This individual will manage fundraising activities and Center finances and budget. Establish and maintain affiliations with outside cultural and academic organizations and individuals to solicit participation. Oversee and develop the center’s title VI and other education and outreach programs including directing the planning and administration of events and activities. Assist the director with long-term program planning, academic program planning, research workshops, luncheons and seminars. Oversee the center’s programming including: lectures, film series, art exhibitions, etc.; potential to play lead role in academic components of programming and potential to engage in MA teaching (if candidate has a PhD). Manage relationships with other organizations to foster partnerships on joint projects, faculty and student exchange, etc. Direct staff administrative operations including: developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing budgets, and supervising and managing staff.

Required Education:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in Near Eastern Studies or related academic field.

Preferred Education:
Ph.D. degree in Near Eastern Studies or related field

Required Experience:
5-8 years of related work experience including fund raising, program development, higher ed administration.

Preferred Experience:
Relevant work experience in an academic / non-profit environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and supervisory skills. Development, fund-raising and financial knowhow. Deep knowledge and understanding of the Middle East. Ability to work with people of various backgrounds.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of Middle Eastern languages a plus (especially Arabic, Turkish, Persian)
