Applicants for newly opened research positions at CNRS may request the Centre for Turkish, Ottoman, Balkan and Central Asian Studies (a.k.a. CETOBaC) to support their application. CETOBaC is a joint research unit of CNRS, the Collège de France and the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences and the Humanities (EHESS) in Paris. Its mission is to develop and disseminate academic research on past and present Turkey, regions of the former Ottoman world such as the Balkans, the Caucasus and the Middle East, as well as Central Asia. It forms the largest European research centre of this kind fully dedicated to field research, higher education and outreach activities related to this vast field of study. CETOBaC’s multidisciplinary make-up allows anthropologists, historians, linguists and social scientists to work together on common projects.

If you wish to apply and request CETOBaC support please send your request to <dir.cetobac [at] ehess [point] fr> by December 12, 2019 along with the following file:

– a draft research project;

– a statement of purpose, explaining how your research would contribute to CETOBaC’s main fields and orientations (see hyperlinks provided below);
