There are many resources for Middle Eastern languages in the UNC Library collection. These resources are available by loan to all UNC students, faculty, and staff as well as anyone with a UNC Borrower’s Card.

Resources in the Davis and SILS Libraries

Beginning and intermediate Arabic language books and workbooks; basic vocabulary books; DVDs in Arabic; short stories in your preferred language: TurkishArabicPersian, and Hebrew.

Children’s Book Collection & Graphic Novels

Reading Children’s Literature and Picture Books is a great way to practice language proficiency and learn about other cultures. UNC Libraries has a collection of Children’s Books in Arabic and Persian. The collection of Arabic Children’s Books is available here. It is housed in the SILS Library. The Library also has Graphic Novels in Arabic, as well children’s books in Persian, and Hebrew (mostly located at the SILS Library).

UNC Borrower’s Cards

UNC Borrower’s Cards are UNC library cards available to anyone with North Carolina residency status. Borrower’s Cards cost $25 a year, and many people affiliated with educational groups are eligible to get the card for free. Faculty, students, and staff of North Carolina’s Community Colleges and UNC system schools may obtain a Borrower’s card at no charge. A photo ID and proof of current affiliation is required upon application.
