About Lebanon Support

Lebanon Support is an action-oriented, non-profit research centre for and about civil society.

We are a multidisciplinary space creating synergies and bridging between researchers, experts, civil society and NGO practitioners, and activists. Lebanon Support aims to foster social change through innovative uses of social science, digital technologies, and publication and exchange of knowledge.

We achieve our action-oriented mission through 3 main programs:

Daleel Madani: Lebanon’s civil society network.

The Civil Society Knowledge Centre (CSKC): Lebanon Support’s online research and information platform on public action and civil society issues.

The Civil Society Incubator which provides tailored support and mentoring.

Job purpose:

The Researcher contributes to the centre’s mission by leading on, and developing research on a variety of themes, mainly part of the Civil Society Knowledge Centre (CSKC) programme.

The Researcher produces scientific knowledge, ensures the uptake of research results and underscoring their significance to diverse audiences, and disseminates scientific information in a variety of outputs.

Using a wide range of research methodologies, and under the direct supervision of the Director, the researcher will be primarily responsible for:

Identify, develop, undertake, and follow up on research activities and/ or projects using transdisciplinary approaches;

Develop new research including research design, methodologies, analysis, writing, and dissemination;

Undertake field research using a variety of methodologies and techniques;

Develop, code, maintain, and analyse databases;

Analyse findings, and publish them in a variety of knowledge products: scientific papers, short articles, reports, policy briefs, blog posts, infographic materials, etc.;

Disseminate research insights and findings in scientific and other knowledge sharing events and other media;

Work with the centre’s team to improve ongoing programmes and projects, and increase their usability, impact, and reach;

Contribute to  review and / or editing Lebanon Support’s content, and publications, as well as the yearly Civil Society Review, for quality and consistency prior to dissemination;

Identify synergies as well as opportunities across Lebanon, the region and globally,  to enhance opportunities for knowledge sharing as per Lebanon Support’s mandate, and liaise with research centres, universities and think tanks;

Contribute to the visibility of the centre’s research and publications;

Perform other tasks as required.


Masters degree in social sciences is required; PhD candidates are encouraged to apply.

Excellent research and analytical skills and academic record;

Outstanding writing, editing and analytical skills, and ability to formulate well-targeted policy recommendations;

Excellent knowledge of qualitative research methods; familiarity with quantitative tools and mixed methods is highly desirable;

Excellent time management skills;

Fluency in English and Arabic are minimum requirements. Knowledge of French is highly desirable;

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including good public presentation skills, and a very strong capacity for effective teamwork.
