The Gender and Women’s Studies Research Center at Kadir Has University invites applications for a nine month Post-doctoral Residency Fellowship starting in the Fall semester of 2014- 2015 academic year. We are interested in interdisciplinary proposals that engage gender and women’s studies in both theory and practice. While we will consider all proposals, we will give special attention to those that deal with aspects related to gender and the status of women in Turkey.

The Gender and Women’s Studies Research Center is a space for interdisciplinary research and teaching on topics related to gender and women’s studies. The main goal of the Center to critically re-examine discussions of equality and gender as they pertain to the status of women, while bearing in mind that the field is not limited to male and female prototypes but also includes lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals.

The Center provides to fellows affiliation, working space, and library and other resources of the university while conducting their research in Istanbul, in the stimulating environment of Kadir Has University, located in the historical peninsula with rich cultural and artistic constellation of institutions nearby. This is a non- salaried position. During their residency the fellows are expected to give public lectures under the guise of the Center and take part or organize workshops/conferences hosted by the Center, and, depending on their qualifications, they will be expected to teach one course per semester at Kadir Has. The language of instruction at Kadir Has is English. The applicant should send a cover letter, full academic CV, research proposal the applicant will carry out in Istanbul(not more than 8 pages single space), and one-page descriptions of the courses which will be offered (including a short reading list) and the names of three references.

Only applicants who have received their PhDs after 2009 are eligible to apply.
