SAIS is seeking to appoint a full-time, tenure-track, assistant or associate professor in political science, history, or a related discipline with a focus on the Middle East. The position is located at the SAIS Europe campus in Bologna, Italy. It will have an initial term of three years. The goal is to fill the position during the fall 2014 semester, with the appointment starting effectively on July 1, 2015.
Candidates who combine their work on the Middle East with an interest in international security, energy or environmental policy, or the foreign policies of the United States, the European Union or China are particularly encouraged to apply.
A Ph.D. awarded by June 2015 will be a condition for employment. The ideal applicant will have strong academic credentials and a commitment to improve public policy. A record of excellence in teaching would be a distinct advantage.
