The Institute for Islamic World Studies (IIWS) was established to become a remarkable landmark of teaching and researching. It uses new methodologies to teach Islamic Studies in higher education, outreaches to the community, and supports research. It aspires to become a leading international institution in Islamic world studies.

Through teaching and research, the Institute will serve as a bridge between cultures and civilizations in the UAE and the region, and has addressed contemporary local, regional and global conditions.

IIWS has positioned itself to become a leader in Islamic educational and research in the heart of the Islamic world through developing a new paradigm in the scholarship of Islam that leads to renewing the pedagogy, theories and research agenda of the different Islamic
Studies disciplines. It applies modern social sciences methodologies to study Islam and the Islamic world. As part of its prestigious initiatives, this year IIWS successfully launched Masters programs in four disciplines namely Contemporary Islamic Studies, Endowment
Studies, Islamic Economics and Wealth Management and Islamic World Studies. These new IIWS Masters Programs aim to promote advanced research on the contribution of Muslims to science and culture to respond positively to the challenges of modernity and globalization.
IIWS seeks to advance critical research and original scholarship on theoretical, empirical, and comparative Islamic studies.

The Opportunity: We are seeking highly qualified Associate Professors or Full Professors to join this prestigious institute with expertise in the following areas:

  • Islamic Economics
  • Islamic Legal Jurisprudence
  • Endowment Studies
  • Textual Analysis of the Quran and Hadith.
  • Women Studies in Islam.
  • Comparative Religions.

The Requirements

  • A PhD from a recognized Institution in the relevant field of expertise.
  • Relevant baccalaureate-level and graduate level teaching experience and active research interests.
  • Experience teaching in a Western or Western-style institution would be preferred.
  • Native competency in Arabic with an excellent command of English
