Water and Energy in Arab-Israeli Relations with Dr. David KatzLecture “Water and Energy in Arab-Israeli Relations with Dr. David Katz”

Monday, February 6 | 6:00-7:30 PM

UNC Hillel, 210 West Cameron Ave

Basic natural resources such as water and energy have played a critical role in both the Arab-Israeli conflict, and more recently in the warming of Arab-Israeli relations. This talk will present an analysis of how scarce water and energy resources have been a source of tension between the parties. It will also cover how new developments, such as desalination and the discovery of natural gas in the Mediterranean are reshaping the geopolitics of the region. Finally, it will explain the evolution of a regional agreement for exchanges of water and renewable energy that was signed between Israel, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.

Dinner from Med Deli will be provided. RSVP online
