Poetry Reading: Sadiyah Bashir: The Poet

Join Black Muslim Talkspace, Duke Performances, and DISC as they host a poetry reading and Q&A by Sadiyah Bashir. Sadiyah Bashir is a freelance writer and award winning poet. Her work has been commissioned by Penny Appeal USA and Apple, she has also performed for international media outlets such as Al-Jazeera. Her first self-published book entitled “Seven” explores trauma and triumph through the lens of Black Muslim womanhood. And is currently working on a second manuscript documenting the history and lives of Black Muslims in America. Bashir can be found on all social media [at] idabwellin.


This event is part of a week of virtual engagements with the Duke and Durham community, including local K-12 students, as part of DISC and Duke Performances’ ongoing ‘Building Bridges: Muslims in America’ initiative. Zoom registration link.
