Cultural Event: Urdu Majlis on Maha Laqa Bai Chanda (hybrid)

December 11, 2021 | 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Please join us via Zoom for the next monthly meeting of Urdu Majlis, the Triangle’s Literary Forum, on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. The featured poet is Maha Laqa Bai Chanda (1768-1824), the first published woman poet in Urdu. Maha Laqa Bai was the most renowned singer, dancer, and poet of her time in Hyderabad.

This meeting of Urdu Majlis will be in HYBRID mode: we will meet in person in room 219 New West but you may also join by Zoom (link below). Those participating in person must abide by UNC’s “Community Standards.” This includes wearing a mask that covers mouth and nose at all times while indoors. There will be refreshments (for those attending in person) after the meeting in the outdoor Pavilion next to the building.

In the first half of the meeting we will discuss the life and works of the featured poet. In the second half, you are invited to share your original work or poems by your favorite poets. This event is in Urdu.
