Davidson College is pleased to announce a two-year Andrew W. Mellon post-doctoral fellowship in Arabic, to commence in August 2012. We seek a young scholar who will offer courses in language instruction as part of the College’s Arabic program. The area of specialization is open, but could included literature, linguistics, or cultural studies. The successful candidate will have training or experience in Arabic language instruction, and will have completed her/his PhD by September 1, 2012.

The post-doctoral fellow will have the opportunity to pursue her/his own research while being mentored by members of the Davidson College faculty. The course load for the duration of the fellowship is one course per semester.

Please submit a letter of application, a CV, an abstract of the dissertation as well as one chapter or other suitable writing sample, and three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses teaching.

The salary for the Mellon post-doctoral fellowship is $50,000. In addition, the fellowship provides health insurance as well as travel funds.
