The Department of History at Columbia University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Islamic South Asian history to begin in 2012. Applicants must have expertise in early modern and/or modern South Asian history, and a working knowledge of both Urdu and Persian. However, we invite applications from all periods and specializations. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in early modern and modern South Asian history. Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, dissertation abstract, writing sample (article or dissertation chapter), and three letters of recommendation.
