The Program Director of The Coalition for Peace with Justice (CPWJ) will serve in a critical leadership role that requires initiative and a strong public presence.   CPWJ is an interfaith and cross-cultural organization based in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina with participants across the United States.  Our mission is to educate, advocate, and support peace-building activities to achieve a just and sustainable peace in Israel-Palestine.  We are dedicated to non-violence and human rights conforming to international law.

 

The Program Director will be responsible for the strategic direction and management of the organization in collaboration with the CPWJ Board of Directors.  The position requires knowledge of/keen interest in the Middle East, specifically Israel/Palestine.  This leadership role requires complete endorsement of the CPWJ mission.  Additional attributes of the position include strong organizational, interpersonal, writing and communication skills.  Ability to work collaboratively in a team approach is important.  Experience in non-profit, peace and social justice work is preferred.

 

The Director will

  • Provide leadership, vision and direction for CPWJ’s three program areas:
  1. Education
  2. Advocacy
  3. Solidarity and financial support for peace building organizations in Israel/Palestine
  • Ensure that programs, projects and campaigns are strategic and well implemented

Responsibilities

 

Administration and Development

  • Assure transparency, sound business practice and legal compliance
  • Advance and develop fundraising programs for the organization
  • Coordinate personnel and volunteers
  • Oversee finances with Treasurer and Office Manager

 

Program of Education, Advocacy and Direct Support

  • Develop promotional/marketing and publicity materials for CPWJ
  • Plan, coordinate and implement programs, actions and campaigns
  • Expand outreach to individuals and network with peace, justice and human rights groups

Communication and Public Relations

  • Oversee website presence
  • Utilize social media effectively

Preferred Background and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in non-profit , social justice and peace work preferred
  • Candidates with strong social commitment and private sector experience will also be considered
  • Strong conflict resolution and decision making skills
  • Successful fundraising and development experience

Location and Compensation

  • Durham, NC
  • Flexible hours up to 30 hours a week
  • Salary and benefits commensurate with experience
