California State University, Sacramento, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Islamic Studies to begin Fall 2014. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with languages of Islamic cultures, and will be able to traverse disciplinary boundaries and connect the study of religion to other cultural aspects. Preference will be given to candidates with competence in one or more of the following areas: ancient Near Eastern cultures, Asian Islamic cultures, African Islamic and indigenous cultures, global religions, gender and religion. Applicants must have a doctorate in hand at the time of appointment.
