Full-time, academic year, tenure track Assistant Professor of Middle Eastern / North African history in the History Department, College of Liberal Arts at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California. Appointment to begin September 7, 2017. Geographic focus and time period are open. Interdisciplinary and transnational approaches welcome. The successful candidate will teach lower-division general education History survey courses (e.g. World History) as well as upper-division and graduate courses in Middle Eastern and/or North African history. Ability to teach comparative history comparing the history of the Middle East / North Africa to the history of other geographic regions (e.g. the United States) preferred. The typical teaching load is 12 units per quarter, with a reduction in course load in each of the first two years to help establish an active program of research and professional development. Additional duties include maintaining an active program of professional development, student advising and department/university service appropriate to the teaching load. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in History or related field must be completed by the date of appointment.
