The Department of Sociology is seeking applications for a full time, tenure-track faculty position beginning Fall 2014 specializing in Global Studies/Social Justice with a focus on the Middle East, South Asia, or Latin America. Responsibilities include: teach undergraduate courses in Sociology, including global social problems, Middle Eastern, Latin American, or South Asian Societies or related courses; advise students; participate in departmental activities such as program review and curriculum development; foster departmental efforts to enhance the teaching and learning of sociology through technology, service learning, internships and research opportunities; assist in the department’s concentration in Global Studies and Social Justice. Additional specialties are open.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
An earned PhD in Sociology by September 1, 2014; demonstrated ability to teach Global Studies (Middle East, South Asia, or Latin America) and Social Justice.
Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching and advising, to an active scholarly agenda, and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity. They should also have the ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, have the ability to work collaboratively, provide evidence of scholarly activity, and be committed to public higher education.
Demonstrated ability to teach some combination of global studies and social justice preferred. A global/comparative perspective especially desirable. Experience and interest in teaching entry-level and core courses preferred. A background in Service Learning and Community-based research would be a plus.
