University of California, Berkeley, the Department of Near Eastern Studies, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Islamic Studies to commence July 1st, 2012. While area and period of specialization are open, the successful candidate must be equipped to train graduate students in the classical Islamic textual tradition and to provide broad-based courses on Islam to non-specialist undergraduates. The department is interested in candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize effective collaboration with a diverse community of campus and external colleagues.
