Bard College, the Anthropology Program, invites applications for a full-time tenuretrack Assistant Professor position in cultural anthropology, effective fall 2013. Areas of specialization are open but preference will be given to candidates with a geographic focus on the Middle East. We are particularly interested in candidates who can offer ethnographically grounded courses that contribute to public or engaged anthropology. Topic of expertise open, but might include one of the following interests: religion, humanitarian politics, social movements, labor, and the public sphere. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to innovative teaching at a liberal arts college as well as excellence in scholarship.
Candidates must have Ph.D. in hand by July 2013. Bard is a highly selective college of the liberal arts and sciences with 1900 students, located 90 miles north of New York City on the Hudson River.
