The Civilization Sequence Program (CVSP) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites applications for two positions at the Assistant Professor rank, and one two-year position as a Visiting Assistant Professor, all beginning on September 1, 2015.

Applicants should be able to work within an interdisciplinary program and combine disciplinary interests in two of the following fields: history of ideas, comparative literature, and/or Arab/Islamic studies. The program has an interest in candidates who cover the classical epochs or the early-modern period.

Applications will be considered for all positions unless a preference is specified in the applicant’s cover letter. The CVSP is a service program that offers a number of interdisciplinary undergraduate humanities courses. Course load is normally 3/2 over a two-semester year. The language of instruction is English. Successful candidates for these positions must be prepared to teach core courses from the ancient to contemporary periods in addition to courses close to their own research fields within the overall CVSP mission. They are also expected to contribute to other interdisciplinary initiatives at AUB.
