Scholar-in-residence program at the HCC

The Hillary Clinton Center for Women’s Empowerment (HCC) at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco, was established in 1999 on the occasion of then First Lady Hillary Clinton’s commencement speech to the second graduating class of Al Akhawayn University.

HCC is the foremost English language research center on contemporary gender and women’s rights issues in North Africa. We serve the academic community, scholars, students, civil society leaders, and policy makers. Located within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, we provide a neutral venue where different stakeholders can freely develop and exchange ideas, and explore new theories and practices to promote a gender egalitarian society.

Since 2014, the HCC has started a scholar-in-residence program that invites internationally recognized scholars who work on gender issues in North Africa.

The program now also offers opportunities to emerging scholars.
