Agnes Scott College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant rank for a scholar with a cross-disciplinary background in the fields of international relations and women’s studies with an interest in human rights. This position is part of a cluster hire with a geographic focus on the Middle East. The 3/2 teaching load will include at least one course supporting the college’s global learning initiative and upper-level courses in the candidate’s specialty. Additional courses could include Introduction to Human Rights, Feminist Research Methodology, and/or courses on international law and organizations. PhD in Political Science, Women’s Studies, or a related field preferred; advanced ABDs considered. The successful candidate will possess college-level teaching experience and a commitment to working with a socially and economically diverse student population.

Additional materials–including syllabi, teaching evaluations and statement on teaching, writing sample, and graduate transcripts–will be solicited from selected applicants later in the search process. The search committee will conduct interviews at the National Women’s Studies Association and Middle Eastern Studies Association conferences in November 2014, but it is not necessary for applicants to attend either conference to be eligible for this position.
