Western Michigan University invites applications for a tenure track position in Islam in America beginning August 2013 at the rank of Assistant Professor, pending budgetary approval. Ph.D. in comparative religion or related field (or evidence of imminent thereof) required in the area of Islam with a preference for specialization in Islam in America. A research/teaching focus on Islam and healing/medicine would also be of interest. The successful candidate will have a mastery of Arabic and fieldwork experience. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has placed WMU among the 76 public institutions in the nation designated as research universities with high research activity.
