at the Department of Islamic-Theological Studies

The Department of Islamic-Theological Studies at the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies provides theological research and teaching to promote scientific education for religious trainees for Alevi Religious Societies.

Duration of employment: 4 year/s

Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This involves
– Developing and strengthening the independent research profile
– Involvement in research projects / research studies
– International publications and presentations
– Responsibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
– Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
– Supervision of students
– Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
– Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration

Profile:
– Doctoral degree/PhD degree in the field of “History”, “Religious Studies”, “Islamic Studies” or an equivalent discipline
– The successful applicant has research competences on Alevi Religion and Alevi Texts although knowledge of hermeneutical methods
– High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
– Excellent command of written and spoken English
– Turkish and Persian skills
– Good Computer skills
– Ability to work in a team

In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have
– Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
– Experience of working on research projects

Desirable qualifications are
– Knowledge of university processes and structures
– Experience abroad
– Experience of supervising students
