Postdoctoral Fellowship (1 to 2 years)

The Institute of Global Studies Postdoctoral Fellowships are intended for emerging scholars to complete work on projects related to the Middle East, Africa, US-China Relations or themes of Global Studies. Recipients are in residence at the Institute of Global Studies at Shanghai University, where they pursue research projects, publish articles in international peer-reviewed journals or expand dissertation for publication. Applications for the Institute of Global Studies Postdoctoral Fellowships are welcome from scholars of all nationalities.

 

Ph.D. in relevant fields, such as History, Sociology, Global Studies, International Relations, Political Science, etc. Ph.D. must be in hand by June 1, 2019.

 

A Short-Term Visiting Scholarship

The Institute of Global Studies hosts a limited number of visiting fellows each year. A visiting fellow is a scholar in possession of a doctorate or equivalent qualification who applies to come to Shanghai University for no less than one month and no longer than two consecutive semesters to work a faculty member on a research project that grows out of a specific collaboration or mutual research interest.

 

Ph.D. in relevant fields, such as History, Sociology, Global Studies, International Relations, Political Science, etc. Ph.D. must be in hand by June 1, 2019.

  4. Gabriel Garcia Marquez Modern Latin and Central American Studies Fellowship (Collaboration with Latin American Studies Center at Shanghai University)
  5. Chen Yun and Zhou Enlai China Studies Fellowship

  1. Curriculum Vitae/Resume
  2. Letters of recommendation/Names of two scholars
  3. Letter of intent with:
    1. Dates/length of stay – Visiting schedule:
      1. Ataturk Modern Turkish Studies Fellowship: September 1, 2019‒ June 1, 2020
      2. Walter Rodney Modern African Studies Fellowship: September 1, 2019‒ June 1, 2020
      3. Edward Said Modern Middle East Studies Fellowship: September 1, 2019‒ June 1, 2020

    2. Research proposal topic (Purpose of visit) 500-800 words.
    3. Expected results/your publication and lecture during your stay in Shanghai University.
    4. Postdoctoral Fellows or Visiting Scholars are expected to contribute to local academic life of Shanghai University.
    5. If you would like to teach, please send us a proposed course syllabus.
    6. Visitors must acknowledge Shanghai University support in any publications prepared during their visit in whole or in part.
    7. Postdoctoral Fellows or Visiting Scholars are individuals who possess a Ph.D. in History, Sociology, Global Studies, International Relations, Political Science, etc.

 

We provide:

  4. Monthly stipend – 4000 to 6000 RMB depends on the qualifications
