The Kuwait Program of Sciences Po is a partnership between Sciences Po and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). Working together, the two institutions are supporting research and teaching of excellence in the social sciences and the humanities with special emphasis on the Arab World and the Gulf Region.
The Kuwait Visiting Faculty program offers one-semester teaching opportunities at the Paris School in International Affairs of Sciences Po (PSIA) for leading specialists of the Arab World and the Gulf Region.
One teaching position in the Spring 2018 (end of January to end of April) is available in the academic year 2017-2018.
This opportunity is open to both professors and practitioners, specialists of the Arab World and the Gulf Region. Individuals of all nationalities may apply.
Regarding faculty members, applicants must be full-time faculty members of professorial rank (e.g. assistant professor, associate professor or university professor). Candidates on sabbatical or on leave will be preferred. Applications from all social sciences and the humanities are welcome.
Requirements and conditions
The Kuwait Visiting Professor will be based at the Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po (PSIA), which offers a vibrant program in Middle Eastern studies.
The Kuwait Visiting Professor will teach one graduate course in English during one semester at PSIA (12 sessions of 2 hours each) on a topic related to the Arab World and the Gulf Region. S/he will be supported by a teaching assistant. S/he will give one academic lecture or seminar presentation at Sciences Po and will spend one week in Kuwait to deliver one public lecture and participate in meetings. S/he will publish one policy brief during the semester on Kuwait and/or the GCC.
The Kuwait Visiting Professor will continue to receive her/his salary from her/his home institution when applicable. While at Sciences Po, s/he will receive 20,000 Euros (gross) to help defray the cost of the visit as well as a travel allowance of up to 1,500 Euros, via reimbursement based on original receipts.
