Human Geography/Sociology: The Department of Global & Sociocultural Studies at Florida International University invites applications for two permanent, nine-month Instructor positions in Human Geography and Sociology beginning August 2012. The GSS Department is part of FIU’s new School of International and Public Affairs. Human geography candidates must have demonstrated teaching experience for courses in world regional geography, marine geography, and geography of Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. A Ph.D. in geography with a specialization in marine affairs by the time of appointment is required. We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of commitment to teaching excellence and a passion for classroom instruction. This is a renewable position requiring four courses per semester and no research expectations.

Sociology candidates must have demonstrated teaching experience for courses in sociology of sexuality, sociological theory, political sociology, and sociology of the Middle East. A Ph.D. in sociology with a specialization in Middle East political sociology by the time of appointment is required. We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of commitment to teaching excellence and a passion for classroom instruction. This is a renewable position requiring four courses per semester and no research expectations.
