The Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Program invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track position in Middle Eastern Studies. This is an open-rank search, with the appointment to be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. The appointment will become effective July 1, 2016, with teaching duties beginning in September 2016. Applicants for this position should have an excellent command of Arabic and a Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment. We welcome applications in areas such as Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Government, or History, but the candidate must use Arabic sources extensively in his or her research and teaching. The teaching load is four courses per year. It is expected that the candidate will collaborate with our Arabic language program and join the rotation of faculty who direct our study abroad program in Fez, Morocco. Applicants should submit via Interfolio the following: cover letter, curriculum vitae, and writing sample (up to 25 pages). Three recommenders should submit letters to Interfolio separately. The review of applications will begin on 23 October 2015 and will continue until the position is filled. We expect preliminary interviews to take place at the MESA conference in November and by Skype for candidates unable to attend the conference. Questions should be directed to Ms. Ann Fenton at Ann.N.Fenton@Dartmouth.Edu. Dartmouth College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer with a strong commitment to diversity. In that spirit, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from a broad spectrum of people, including women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, veterans or any other legally protected group. http://apply.interfolio.com/31526
