Carolina Global Photography Competition Graphic

The submission period is now open for the 16th annual amateur Carolina Global Photography Competition. The competition is open to all students, faculty, alumni and staff of UNC-Chapel Hill. Photos may represent any world region. There is no restriction on the time period in which the photograph was taken. Entries will be judged on artistic merit and context. Special consideration will be given to images that are distinctive and embrace new perspectives.
Grand prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place. Prizes include a GoPro HERO Action Camera, gift certificates to local restaurants and 20×30 poster prints of image submissions. Every individual that enters will have a photograph displayed in the FedEx Global Education Center beginning in January of 2016.
This competition is an excellent opportunity to showcase Carolina’s diverse global activity, educational opportunities, research and service work.
Honorable mentions will be awarded for photos that incorporate the following themes:
• Chancellor’s Choice
• Global Perspectives within the U.S.
• Learning Moment
• Movement and Motion
• Nature’s Beauty
• A New Take on An Old Landmark
• School Spirit
• Food for All: Local and Global Perspectives
• FedEx Global Education Center Spotlights
The Middle East Center is pleased to announce a Honorable mention award for photos that fit the description below. The winner will win a meal at a restaurant of their choice!
Discovering the Middle East and North Africa
The Middle East and North Africa are home to some of the most ancient history in the world – cradles of civilizations and beautiful, complex regions that are influenced by ongoing economic, social and political changes. Special consideration will be given to photos that illustrate the cultural diversity, rich history, or varied geography of these world regions.
