Carleton College, Department of Religion, seeks qualified candidates to fill a one-year leave replacement position in Islamic Studies, to begin Sept. 1, 2013.

Candidates should a) have experience in teaching, b) be skilled at relating both classical and contemporary Islamic materials to their various historical and cultural settings, and c) situate their work within the broader theoretical and methodological concerns of the field of religious studies.   We seek applicants who are committed to teaching a diverse student body in a religiously-unaffiliated, highly selective, liberal arts environment While it is preferred that the PhD be in hand by Sept 1, 2013, we will also consider ABD candidates.
