The Presidential Search Committee of American Islamic College (AIC) invites nominations and applications from individuals who possess the leadership skills required to serve as the Chief Executive and Administrative Officer of a recently established undergraduate and graduate degree granting institution which is currently in pursuit of regional accreditation. AIC has been awarded operating and degree granting authority by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE).
Located in Chicago, Illinois the mission of AIC is to provide students of all backgrounds with a solid liberal arts and sciences education that includes a rigorous academic foundation in Islamic Studies. The College’s innovative and interdisciplinary B.A. and Masters level programs seek to combine the best of traditional Islamic pedagogies and approaches with the highest contemporary academic standards. In doing so, the AIC faculty and staff are committed to promoting inter-religious and inter-cultural understanding, responsible world citizenship, and engaged social service. The curriculum attempts to convey a broad understanding of the historical and global forces that have shaped intellectual debates and interpretations as well as the political and social structures of diverse contemporary Muslim societies. Finally, the College also seeks to serve the general public by showcasing the rich heritage and the contemporary realities of Muslim cultures through community outreach activities, academic symposia and seminars, and dynamic exchange and immersion programs.
Therefore, the hallmark of the next President’s tenure will be strategic planning, comprehensive fundraising, and the implementation of the basic objectives, policies and operating plans of the College’s Board of Trustees. The next President of AIC will be chosen based on possessing strong leadership and staff management background. The candidate should ideally have experience operating in a strategic role within the educational or non-profit sectors. Prior experience with strategic planning, goal setting, outcome assessment, collaborative and fiscal management, and reporting to an elected Board are preferred. The President will help oversee and coordinate the roles of two Vice Presidents, who will serve as the Chief Academic and Financial Officers of the College respectively.
