Thank you for considering a donation to the Center for Middle East and Islamic Studies (CMEIS) at UNC-Chapel Hill. Your support over these past 20 years has enabled the Center to expand language programs to include multiple years of Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Turkish, and Urdu, establish an undergraduate minor and a graduate certificate in Middle East studies, work with the College of Arts and Sciences to endow professorships in two departments, collaborate with the UNC Libraries to hire a librarian specializing in the Middle East and build Middle Eastern and Islamic collections at the Ackland Art Museum and UNC Libraries.

By donating to CMEIS, we will be able to support faculty research and publications, graduate student research travel, and undergraduate student study abroad.

CMEIS’s other needs include funding events, launching intellectual and cultural initiatives, and hiring faculty in various disciplines. While there is a robust group of faculty members on campus, we wish to diversify our faculty by hiring within disciplines such as Performing Arts, Media Studies, Mideast Anthropology, Mideast Environmental Studies, Contemporary Islamic art, and Contemporary Global Islam.
